Candidates would take the stage to participate in a debate or forum, with incumbents and challengers addressing the same set of questions before an attentive audience. RANDLEMAN — The iconic Timken Tunnel at Victory Junction, which has welcomed campers to the camp for more than 20 years, recently received significant enhancements designed to improve the camper and family experience. Thanks to the support of The Timken Foundation and Musco Lighting, the tunnel now features refreshed signage, including a new vibrantly checkered “The Timken Tunnel” entrance sign and large “Welcome Campers” lettering above the tunnel entrance.

TRINITY — For decades, the old Trinity High School sign on N.C. 62 remained hidden, obscured by a newer sign — a sign for Braxton Craven School. It was a sign of progress, literally and metaphorically. After more than 40 years at that site, Trinity High School had moved to its current site on Trinity High School Drive.

TRINITY — The September meeting of the Sunset Garden Club was held Friday, Sept. 11, at the Colonial Country Club. President Susan Riddick called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. There were 12 members present with one guest, J.D. Peace. RANDOLPH COUNTY — A Seagrove man has been arrested and accused of raping a woman in Greensboro in April, when the man was working as a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputy. The Guil-Rand Fire Department responded to 144 calls Sept. 3-12. RANDOLPH COUNTY — Trinity City Councilman Ed Lohr has been charged with a felony for threatening another councilman. TRINITY — The city of Trinity is poised to get its first major chain grocery store in its nearly 30-year history. Food Lion confirmed that it plans to establish one of its stores on an undeveloped site near Unity Street and N.C. 62. TRIAD — The North Carolina Education Lottery has never contributed to schools the target percentage of its revenue set in state law, and its newest, most popular games are designed to provide even less, according to a new performance audit by the N.C.
