A coalition of free-market organizations led by ATR has sent a letter toFCC Chairman Brendan Carr applauding the successful return of spectrum auctions and urging continued progress on this critical pro-growth policy. In the July 9, 2026 letter, Americans for Tax Reform and 15 other groups praised the recently concludedAuction 113 (AWS-3), which generated $3.57 billion in revenue. This marked the first spectrum auction since the Commission’s authority expired in March 2023.

Governor Mikie Sherrill promised to rein in Trenton’s culture of pork spending. Now, she has betrayed taxpayers. On June 30th, Governor Sherrill signed a supplemental spending bill in addition to the record $60.7 billion already passed. This supplement was filled with gifts and giveaways to Democratic buddies and politically connected organizations. This supplemental spending bill is just another example of politicians making decisions in smoke-filled rooms.

Thanks to Governor Dan McKee’s recent union handout, the grocery store experience is about to get a lot worse for consumers and businesses. Just last week, Governor McKee signed legislation that requires grocery stores to maintain a ratio of one grocery store worker for every three self-checkout stands. At a time when grocery prices are increasingly unaffordable in Rhode Island, the state has instead added more onerous regulations, which will make this crisis even worse.

Thanks to Republicans in the Michigan Legislature, the state passed a new budget for FY 2027 that included no new taxes and significant reductions in spending. Americans for Tax Reform commends the valiant effort to fight against new and increased taxes originally proposed by Governor Whitmer and Democrats in the Michigan Senate.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) gave the Health and Human Services Secretary the authority to “negotiate” the prices of prescription drugs for Medicare. This really means the Secretary has the power to determine the price that they believe is acceptable and impose a steep tax of up to 95% on companies who charge more. The IRA incurs shortages, cost increases, and a small molecule “pill penalty,” which disincentivizes the creation and sale of small molecule drugs.

As lawmakers across the country search for solutions to address rising property tax burdens, Montana’s Frontier Institute has launched a campaign that addresses the real driver of higher taxes: government spending. The Frontier Institute’s new Taxpayer Protection Now campaign calls for taxpayer protections that would cap the growth of state, school, and local government budgets while requiring any revenue collected above those limits to be automatically returned to taxpayers.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) new policy to stimulate more competition in the credit scoring space for mortgage lending could wind up doing the opposite and leave taxpayers holding the bag for the risks associated with the new move. When homebuyers get approved for a mortgage, their lender does not typically keep the loan. Instead, the loan is usually sold to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, two government-controlled entities known as Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs).

Americans continue to vote with their feet. A new white paper from New Hampshire State Rep. Joe Sweeney explains why the Granite State continues to attract Americans fleeing high-tax states. A new report from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy adds to the overwhelming evidence that taxpayer-funded corporate subsidies fail to deliver the economic results politicians promise. According to the report, Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration authorized approximately $2.7 billion in subsidies for eight high-profile economic development projects that were promoted as “generational” investments expected to create 20,595 jobs.
