Army-affiliated athletes across two teams are gearing up for the Department of War’s 2026 Warrior Games. “We are proud of this event and everything it represents, but its greatest value is the impact it has on the service members and their families and friends,” said David Paschal, director of the Warrior Games. The games will take place June 13–20 in San Antonio.

AUSA Book Highlights Lessons from Top Enlisted Leaders The Association of the U.S. Army has released a new edition of The Sergeants Major of the Army: On Leadership and the Profession of Arms, a collection of quotes and insights from the Army’s most senior enlisted leaders. The Sergeants Major of the Army features leadership insights, professional wisdom and enduring principles from the 17 soldiers who have served as sergeant major of the Army since the position was created in 1966.

Record-breaking NASA astronaut Col. Frank Rubio will return to space for the second time as a mission specialist for the Artemis III mission. “What an incredible blessing and an honor it is to be representing all of you,” Rubio said June 9 during NASA’s Artemis III announcement. “I’d just like to take a quick second to say thank you, first and foremost to my wife and to our four amazing kids.” He also thanked the NASA community.

Soldiers assigned to the 10th Mountain Division are once again authorized to wear the division’s World War II-era crossed skis insignia on their Army Green Service Uniform garrison caps. First adopted in 1943 when the 10th Mountain Division was created as a special alpine force, the insignia symbolized the division’s ability to operate in freezing temperatures and rugged mountain terrain, according to an Army news release.

Gen. Ron Clark, commanding general of U.S. Army Pacific, will speak June 23 as part of the Association of the U.S. Army’s Coffee Series. The event will take place at AUSA headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. The event opens at 6:30 a.m. with registration, coffee and networking. Army Ranger School students now must meet another challenge in their quest for the coveted Ranger tab. In late April, the first class of Ranger students tackled the new Bayonet Assault Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, the Army said in a news release. The course is a “rugged addition” to the Malvesti obstacle course, and it’s integrated into the Ranger Assessment Phase to further assess a soldier’s physical and tactical readiness, the Army said.

U.S. Army South has been inactivated as part of the planned consolidation of three Army commands into a single four-star operational headquarters, the Army announced in a news release. The command’s responsibilities and areas of operation, as with those of the former U.S. Army Forces Command, have been subsumed by the new U.S. Army Western Hemisphere Command, which was stood up Dec. 5 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

New episodes of the Association of the U.S. Army’s “Army Matters” podcast will feature the story of The Washington Tattoo and go behind the scenes of the new D-Day movie Pressure. First up, on June 3, is an episode featuring retired Sgt. Maj. Mark Reilly, founder of The Washington Tattoo, a large-scale musical production designed to be a unifying voice at the intersection of music, history and national identity.
