The query writing trenches are maddening… but there is hope to get through it by following good guidance. Late last year, I launched a small independent children’s book press, called Evora Press. We accept unagented manuscripts and every day, I am queried by authors seeking publication of their picture books, early readers, and middle grade chapter books. Our submission guidelines are posted plainly on our website but many queries we get seem to have ignored them.

As a professional children’s illustrator, I love to visualize wholesome and whimsical stories. Children’s books are my main passion because they spark imagination and their messages help shape little ones. These messages are simple but important reminders for adults, too. My work is inspired from and cherishes little joyful moments, such as a bee sleeping on a flower or the giggles of a baby.

And they all insist, “this worked for me, so it will work for you, too.” Would you trust their advice? Yet that's pretty close to how many first-time self-published authors receive advice about launching their book.

Hi Friends, Before I dive in, I need to be clear that I amnot a Facebook Ads expert and this is also a learning experience for me. Still, I wanted to share some of what I’m doing behind the scenes at Author Gold.

With his love for drawing, he added to his skills by graduating with a B.A. in graphic design at Kutzown University of Pennsylvania. He currently resides in the northeastern United States. Recognized as a thinker and a perfectionist, he primes and moils a clean, atmospheric style with blooming environments and moods of color.

I always referred to myself as a Pennsylvania farm girl... I grew up on a 100-acre sheep farm in rural Pennsylvania. I’ve always loved animals and feel that we overlook an incredible source of creature knowledge and spiritual companionship by seeing non-human life as merely planetary decoration. As a result, I like to tell the stories of animals from their perspective, with the human audience watching from a distance.
