Volkswagen’s ID.4 didn’t just fail—it performed a public autopsy of the company’s electric dreams while still technically on the lot. The compact crossover that was supposed to prove Germany could out-engineer Tesla and out-volume Toyota has instead become a case study in corporate delusion, software slapstick, and the kind of wishful thinking usually reserved for lottery tickets and reunion tours. Production at Chattanooga ended earlier this year.
Geely Auto Announces Plan To Enter Canadian Market In 2027 With Several Models
Geely Auto announced its official entry into Canada in 2027 with a bunch of models that have yet to be disclosed. The company’s current lineup includes Geely, Geely Galaxy, Zeekr, and Lynk & Co brands. This automaker is currently building its retail and service network. Canada previously made headlines after the allocation of a quota of 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles annually that are subject to a tariff rate of 6.1% without the additional 100% tariff.
Porsche Cancels Future ICE Powered Boxster And Cayman Models
Porsche's entry sports car line returns in 2027 with a plug and no internal combustion option. Production of the 718 Cayman Electric and 718 Boxster Electric starts next year, and the gasoline variants once plotted for the top of the range are gone. Looking at the bigger picture, going zero emissions only is a very bold choice. The hole these cars fill opened in 2025, when the final six- and four-pot 718s rolled off the assembly line. Since then, Porsche has had no sub-911 sports car at all.
Self Driving Taxis Are Listening To Your Conversations And Will Call The Cops On You
Whether they like it or not, taxi and ride-hail drivers are responsible for more than just getting you to your destination. They often have to deal with problematic (or even unruly) riders, and have to keep their eyes open for signs of danger or illicit activity. Robotaxi operators are expected to monitor for the same things, lest their vehicles end up being used as getaway cars or vessels for human trafficking. Their solution? Cameras and microphones—with a little dollop of automation, of course.
Porsche 911 And Macan Lead The Way In Q3 Sales
Earlier this week we got a look at Porsche’s plan to turn its business around, which includes job cuts, building a new supercar, and pushing prices up to make more money while selling fewer cars. And today the sports car brand released its latest sales figures, reminding us why that turnaround plan is so badly needed. Some, but not all, of the numbers make for uncomfortable reading. Let’s start with the headline number, the 178,532 cars Porsche sold in the first nine months of 2026.
84 Month Car Loans Are No Longer An Edge Case - 25% Of Buyers Are Now Choosing One
The seven-year car loan is no longer an edge case. According to Edmunds, loans of 84 months or longer accounted for more than 25 percent of new-vehicle financing in the third quarter of 2026, a new record. That's up from 23.9 percent in the second quarter and 21.8 percent a year earlier, per Edmunds. One in four new-car buyers is now signing up to make payments well into the next presidential term. Several financing metrics hit all-time highs in Q3, according to the Edmunds data.
WATCH: Are Ceramic Coatings Worth It Or Should You Put In The Time With Wax?
Ceramic coating has become one of the biggest buzzwords in the world of car detailing. You'll see it advertised as a way to make paint glossier, easier to clean, and better protected from the elements. Some products even make it sound like a near-invisible force field for your car. But what does ceramic coating actually do? Despite the name, automotive ceramic coating is not a layer of ceramic armor.
Why Do Americans Buy Those Big SUVs?
Walk into a car dealership in Europe or Japan, and you can find tiny hatchbacks, narrow city cars, and compact models that seem almost perfectly suited to crowded streets. Walk into an American dealership... and the selection can look very different. Even the smallest vehicles on sale are increasingly dressed up as crossovers. That's strange when you consider how useful a genuinely small car can be. They're easier to park, cheaper to fuel, and often less expensive to buy.
Honda's New Rugged Pickup Could Simply Be A Rebadged Mitsubishi
Honda is reportedly preparing to add a proper pickup truck to its global lineup, but there's a twist: Mitsubishi will do most of the heavy lifting. According to a report from one of Japan's oldest newspapers, Honda plans to source the Mitsubishi Triton and sell it under its own badge, with the first deliveries expected in 2028. If the Yomiuri Shimbun report proves accurate, the deal would mark the first major outcome of ongoing cooperation talks between the two Japanese automakers.
Bugatti CEO Challenges Automakers To Be Unique And Stop Copying The Chinese
No matter who you talk to, you’ll hear that the automotive industry is undergoing arguably its most transformative change on record. Whether it be the march of tech, reacting to global issues, or how automakers rethink their ICE vs EV strategies, the pressures are immense. However, for legacy automakers, the biggest fear appears to stem from Chinese competition.
