The AVMA is a member-run, member-driven association representing the needs and priorities of our diverse member veterinarians. Our operating structure puts members at the heart of organizational decision-making – as members of the councils, committees, and task forces that advise our Board of Directors (BOD) and House of Delegates (HOD). Members in our 11 geographic districts also elect the district directors who serve on the BOD. The HOD make-up embraces state, territorial, and allied veterinary groups, who select its members. This governing structure helps ensure that the AVMA hears, and represents, veterinarians in all disciplines and specialties across our profession. Source

UC-Santa Cruz, Bristol partner to offer pathway to COE-accredited veterinary school

Graduates of the University of California-Santa Cruz (UCSC) now have a more direct route to earning a veterinary degree through a partnership with the University of Bristol Veterinary School in England. The new Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) in Veterinary Science: Accelerated Graduate Entry program will allow five to 10 UCSC graduates to be accepted into Bristol’s BVSc program each academic year, according to the May 29 announcement.

Latest FDA approvals include BRD treatment for cattle, several drugs for dogs

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved several new animal drugs in recent months, including an antiparasitic oral drench for sheep and the first generic oral paste for horses with gastric ulcers. Moxidectin Oral Drench for Sheep is among the new animal drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Recent approvals mostly cover treatments for cattle and dogs, as well as chewable tablets for the control of systemic hypertension in cats.
