The Chicago Bears have taken tackle Ozzy Trapilo off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, clearing Trapilo to return to practice on Sunday, just seven months after he suffered a ruptured patellar tendon. The knee injury — which was expected to sideline Trapilo for some if not all of the 2026 NFL season — was sustained in the Bears’ 31-27 wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers in January.
Trump instructs Pentagon to reduce military exercises with South Korea
Aug 16 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday he had instructed the Pentagon to substantially reduce joint military exercises with South Korea in a social media post that also mentions Seoul’s refusal to take part in actions against Iran. Trump said in a post on his Truth Social site that, although it was too late to cancel the exercises entirely, he was “not happy” that the United States had previously agreed to participate.
New Zealand’s a2 Milk posts 44% fall in full-year profit
Aug 17 – New Zealand’s a2 Milk reported a 44% drop in its full-year profit on Monday, dragged down by lower revenue from its key China-label infant milk formula product as temporary supply chain disruptions constrained its availability. The dairy producer recorded net profit attributable of NZ$113.6 million ($66.91 million) for the year, compared with NZ$202.9 million in the previous year. That missed the Visible Alpha consensus estimate of NZ$121 million.

Athletics place LF Tyler Soderstrom (hip) on 10-day IL
Already missing key pieces of their starting lineup, the Athletics took another hit on Sunday when outfielder Tyler Soderstrom (hip) landed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Saturday. Soderstrom, 24, is dealing with a left hip impingement and joins Shea Langeliers, Brent Rooker and Nick Kurtz on the IL. In a corresponding move, the Athletics recalled shortstop Darell Hernaiz from Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Boston Red Sox placed designated hitter Mastaka Yoshida (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list and right-hander Justin Slaten (elbow) on the 15-day IL on Sunday. Slaten’s placement on the IL is retroactive to Thursday. In corresponding moves, the Red Sox recalled catcher Mickey Gasper and left-hander Raymond Burgos from Triple-A Worcester. The Red Sox also sent veteran shortstop Trevor Story on a Triple-A rehab assignment.
