SCB’s deposits grew at 10.7%, GNPA declines to multi-decadal lows of 2.3%
Scheduled Commercial Banks’ aggregate deposits grew at 10.7% (y-o-y) during FY2024-25, notwithstanding a deceleration in respect of private sector banks (PVBs) and foreign banks (FBs). Growth in term deposits continued to outpace that in current and savings account deposits. As of June 13, 2025, SCBs’ y-o-y deposit growth stood at 10.5%. SCBs’ credit growth decelerated in 2024-25 across bank groups.
SEBI extends cybersecurity compliance deadline for regulated entities
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced a two-month extension for the implementation of its Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Framework (CSCRF) by regulated entities. The new deadline for compliance is August 31, 2025. Originally mandated under SEBI Circular dated August 20, 2024, the CSCRF aims to enhance the digital resilience of the Indian securities market by strengthening cybersecurity safeguards among market participants.
RBI issues new guidelines to strengthen Aadhaar-enabled Payment System (AePS)
In recent times, there have been reports of fraud perpetrated through the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) due to identity theft or compromise of customer credentials. To protect bank customers from such frauds and to maintain trust and confidence in the safety and security of the system, the Reserve Bank of India has issued directions for streamlining the process for onboarding of AePS touchpoint operators and strengthening fraud risk management.
