Dear Readers, If youâre new to The Quaking Poplar and also to Ayurveda, please take a moment to read my Intro to Ayurveda post. Otherwise, what I have to say might make zero sense. Dosha? Whatâs a dosha?? And for my beloved regulars, you might be weary of my annual Vata Season posts, but I feel so passionate about their importance that I hope youâll stick with me.
A Follow-Up Post
This is a follow-up to my last two posts, which included a link to the course I’m co-teaching with Lynnette Duncan called Wild Mystic. I discovered a few days after sending the last one out that the link wasn’t working - it was showing that the course was closed when indeed it is not. Sunday, October 4th is the start date, and so there is still time to join us if you’re interested. My internet has been out, and so I’m just now able to let you know.
Magic in the Middle World
Joy is gone. She has flown south with her friends. If you live south of me and you see her at your feeder or the flowers, please tell her I miss her already. If you donât know who Iâm talking about, read my post: Just a few days before Joy headed south, I stepped out onto my patio to talk lovingly to the turtle eggs laying hidden in the ground since June 10th, only to discover a big hole dug on the edge of the patio with a few scattered remnants of turtle shells.
Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone
My home/office, where I’ll be teaching. Audio playback is not supported on your browser. Please upgrade. Dear Readers, I’ve been keeping something under wraps for months, but I’m excited to share it with you now! Several years ago, I met a remarkable woman named Lynnette Duncan. Lynnette is an evolutionary astrologer, intuitive teacher, and spiritual guide. I serendipitously discovered her, had an astrology reading, and have had many more since.
It's That Time of Year Again
Audio playback is not supported on your browser. Please upgrade. Dear Readers, This is my yearly Ayurveda summer-into-fall tip for a healthier seasonal transition. I’m posting about it again for new subscribers and for a gentle reminder to those who might have read it before. I might be a bit early, and I know that many of you further south of me, as well as all over the world, are still experiencing waves of intense heat, but we’ve had a few really cool mornings and evenings lately.
Oops! I Forgot Something!
Sorry for the extra email, but I sent my post out and forgot to record it! So if you’re someone who likes to listen rather than read, just click below! XO Barbara
Today I Turned Four!
Audio playback is not supported on your browser. Please upgrade. Dear Beloved Readers, Wow. I knew my Substack anniversary was today, but I thought she turned three until I scrolled back and realized she’s four! I can hardly believe it. This is my 150th post. Not bad for a pokey writer. :) Just to be clear - I don’t mean pokey in a derogatory sense - I mean it in an honest assessment of my writing mojo. It’s slow like my friend, the Turtle. 🐢 And you know how much I love Turtle.
The Quaking Poplar š³
Audio playback is not supported on your browser. Please upgrade. Dear Readers, Coming up my driveway a few weeks ago, I stopped to drink it all in. The Little Hill, as Iāve named her, had transitioned into the color of one of my favorite Crayola crayons - Goldenrod Yellow. š There are several species of this magnificent native wild plant growing on the land here, and they all bloom at different times. So, I will live atop a golden hill well into the fall.
A Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime
Audio playback is not supported on your browser. Please upgrade. Dear Readers, Astrologer Patricia Tate often says, āPeople are in our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.ā Sometimes she says, āPeople, places, and things are in our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. The first time I heard her say that, I felt the bittersweet truth of it in my bones. The falling apart of friendships, love relationships, and even family members can be painful.
It's Pitta Season
Audio playback is not supported on your browser. Please upgrade. Dear Readers, I guess the hot and sweaty season depends on where you live. Today, Iām speaking to my friends in the Northern Hemisphere, where Pitta Season (late spring and summer) is in full swing. If youāre living in the Southern Hemisphere, then lucky you - youāre in Vata Season! If youāve been around here for a while, youāll recognize this subject.
