Knotty Ash Primary School is seeking a committed and specialist Qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join our highly regarded Deaf Resource Base (DRB). Working as part of a skilled and supportive team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and enabling Deaf pupils to thrive both academically and socially.

“The School of Psychology at the University of Derby and are currently conducting a British Academy-funded study investigating how deaf people think and solve visual problems, and how language experience (British Sign Language and/or English) may influence these processes. We are seeking deaf adults aged 18–65 who were deaf from birth or who became deaf in both ears before the age of three, and whose primary language is BSL, English, or both.

NDCS has published a “new report urging the Government to transform children’s hearing services in England.” The “report sets out vital recommendations to improve services. It highlights why it’s so important to identify deaf children early and provide support to families as soon as possible. Ofqual’s latest research report is by Paul Newton: ‘Designing Qualifications that will be Fit for their Purposes: The necessity and centrality of purpose analysis’, and has an accompanying blog. Ofqual note “This report sets out a detailed framework for what we call ‘purpose analysis’ – the idea that getting clarity on a qualification’s purposes should be the essential first step in designing it.” Share

The Inclusive Parliament coalition, led by the RCSLT and STAMMA, welcomes the response to the report but warns that further action is still needed to ensure Parliament is fully accessible for signers and people with communication disability, difficulty or difference.
