From Berks County Community Foundation Berks County Community Foundation announced a major new gift that will support the community. The late Marian S. Snyder left a total of $17.1 million to the Community Foundation, one of the largest gifts the foundation has ever received. Mrs. Snyder died in 2018, but the final portion of the estate was received last month. In fiscal year 2026, the Community Foundation distributed $680,400 from the Marian S.

With support from presenting sponsors Diamond Credit Union and Redner’s Markets, over $60,000 has already been raised for the foundation leading up to the weekend’ s festivities. Duck entries can be purchased online and in-person at RiverFest through Saturday evening.

From Vision Resource Center of Berks County Vision Resource Center of Berks County is ramping up its year-round complimentary vision screening services as families prepare to go back to school. These screenings are available for children ages 6 months to 6 years as a preventative tool for detecting vision issues. In previous years, screenings across 65 local sites helped detect early signs of conditions ranging from cataracts to neuroblastoma, prompting families to follow up with a doctor.
