After around 30 hours of airports, planes and airport hotels, the humidity hit immediately. So did the hustle and bustle – so many people! Indonesia was incredible for all the reasons you might expect: the people, the food, the cattle and the excellent company we travelled with.

Max Shelton Author Dr Max Shelton enjoyed a 40-year career at The University of Queensland. He is the author / editor of multiple research papers and books on all aspects of the establishment and management of leucaena for beef production in Australia. With colleague Dr Scott Dalzell, he conducted ablot 30 courses on leucaena production for more than 600 graziers, research & extension workers, pastoral companies & consultants.

GLOBAL burger restaurant giant McDonald’s bought 89,000 tonnes of Australian grinding beef in 2025, cementing the food service operator as easily Australia’s largest single beef customer. Releasing its biennial ‘Aussie Raw Material Shopping List’ for 2025 yesterday, McDonald’s revealed that the 89,000t of Australian beef used last year covered both its domestic restaurant requirements, plus exports of frozen patties and trimmings for use in its overseas restaurant operations.

Yarding 5132 Change -2968 Following the widespread reduction in prices at the previous sale numbers at Dalby eased by close to 3000 head to 5132 and the cow component declined to 1267 head. Also included was one consignment of 242 head from Thargomindah. A full panel of export buyers was present and operating however not all the regular feeder buyers were present. Restocker demand strengthened with the return of interstate orders from Guyra, Coonamble and Gunnedah as well as local operators.
