Beth Revis: News, Fiction, and More

This summer keeps slipping away, and today is the day that my latest, Chaotic Orbits, is finally out! This is an omnibus edition that compiles all three original novellas + a brand new short story in a gorgeous new cover: I started writing this book in Arizona, after an unsavory conversation with someone at a convention who didn’t think I could write a non-Star Wars book with spunk that would sell. Every time someone buys a copy of the book, they prove him wrong.

I’ve been keeping a little secret… Actually, a huge one. And it was just revealed at San Diego ComicCon!!!! The story of this story is one for the ages. And I’ve been immersed in Star Wars for the last two months working on this book.

I may have hinted about this a teeny tiny bit, but can you blame me? I’ve been holding this news in for more than a solid YEAR.

More than a decade into this business, and I’m still somewhat in awe of how books are made, from idea to finished book on the shelf. Each one is different. I wrote Full Speed to a Crash Landing after a flash of inspiration, writing the entire novella in less than a month. My book coming out in 2027 has been written and rewritten and formulating in my head for multiple years. I love hearing about the process of writing and discovering how authors tackle their ideas.
