Sylvia Townsend Warner: Anticipation of Pleasure
Sylvia Townsend Warner was a twentieth-century English musicologist, poet, novelist and short story writer, but is probably best known for two of her novels Lolly Willowes and The Corner That Held Them. Born on 6th December 1893 to George Townsend Warner, a Harrow schoolmaster, and his wife Nora Eleanor Mary Hudleston, she was an only child and curious and intelligent from a young age.

Short story writer, essayist and journalist Katherine Mansfield was born in Wellington, New Zealand on the 14th of October 1888. She travelled to England to attend Queen’s College, London when she was just thirteen years of age then, following a number of years travelling across Europe, returned to England permanently in 1908.
Vanessa Bell & Roger Fry: A New Direction
Share Beyond Bloomsbury Vanessa Bell, artist and founding member of the Bloomsbury Group - a circle of artists, writers, intellectuals and friends - met Roger Fry for the third time in January 1910, at Cambridge railway station. They had met briefly twice before, the first time at King’s College, Cambridge, the second at a dinner party hosted by mutual friend Desmond MacCarthy.
