Good afternoon all, I have a rattle coming from what sounds like the dashboard/footwell area on the drivers side of my bmw F31 2012. I have explored so many options of what it could be but just cannot get to the bottom of it. Hi everyone! I’m looking to take the plunge into custom ECU remapping and want to learn how to do it entirely by myself on my own car, which is a 2016 BMW 520d (F10) LCI Diesel UK spec with the B47 engine. I have a basic background in programming, so I understand the logic of code and data, but I am a complete beginner when it comes to automotive tuning, hex editing, and ECU protocols.

My oldest son has owned two BMW’s - 2008 328i 6MT and 2013 335i 6MT. Which made me decide to pick up our current 2015 X5 for my wife after owning mostly all Japanese cars. I DIY most everything, but still drive a Japanese car because one aging BMW was enough. With my sons (adults now) I don’t care what they drive cause they DIY also and pay their own way (oldest is at diesel mechanic school now).
