So I replaced the valve cover (plastic) gasket on my 2011 328i because of an oil leak. Complete PITA. Had to jack up the engine to get the cover to clear the A/C line! So now the valve cover is still leaking oil and I have created another issue. The engine starts fine and rev's ok, but the idle is now very rough and it surges a little. I think I might have pinched the gasket or it isn't seated correctly. Could an air leak cause the rough idle? It hasn't thrown any codes yet. Thoughts?

I am struggling with getting my launch pad scanner to clear permanent "wastegate stop not learned" and "wastegate malfunction" codes after replacing the turbo. And it won’t let me run the wastegate stop learn in procedure until the permanent codes are cleared.

New to BMW’s and finally got my first one but now I have a problem! When I am driving the car I hear a whine sound. It starts around 1000rpms is the loudest at 1500rpms and tappers off at 2000 rpms. It only does it while I’m driving. I parked the car and reeves the engine and now whine. Put the car in neutral while coasting and no whine. Only when the car is driving. Does not matter what gear I’m in or the speed. it makes the noise.

Just finished a 1,000-mile road trip to Indiana. Traveled mostly on I-24 and I-69 and set the cruise on low to mid 70s. Traffic came to a crawl near Nashville, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, and Atlanta. On one stretch between Bloomington and Evansville, IN, the X1 surprised me with 44.4-mpg - a pure run on I-69! I tanked up with premium at all the Costco's along the way. Seems the sweet spot for X1 mpg may be in the low 70s. Would be interested to hear how others are faring.

Hi @shawnsheridan I change my champ2r move* ( label printed on the Hu 2012)) on r60 2012 because memory flash was out and it it was running with just radio , (tel Bluetooth stayed connect) and all other things was not on screen. I read a lot in this helpful forum community and I have to say thank you. I got lucky to find a champ2r from a r60 2011 ,( older than mine) and I plug it. All the services was recovered with no software.

Hi after some harder drive on my f36 b46 i got check engine and after reading it on computer it seems to be a vanos solenoid valve on the exhaust side. Does anyone tried to change it by yourself? Do you need some special tools to take the solenoid valve or not? Is the acces to it hard? Im pretty newbie to repairing cars by my own but my mechanic has no time and i need the car, also if anyone have some instructions or advises i would appreciate it.
