Binge Fringe

In 2024, Noah Xavier (they/them) first created ‘Brick’ as part of a college assignment. Now in 2026 this play makes its Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut with the guiding hand of the Boondog Theatre Company team as the winner of their inaugural Fringe mentoring scheme. Roe spoke to Noah to find out more about the play, their process and taking a show up so early in their career. Amnesia is the name of Kimberly Hart-Simpson’s upcoming Edinburgh Festival Fringe solo show, set in Rhyl, the piece follows Kelly, a dementia carer and daughter of two Tom Jones tribute acts, who prides herself on holding everything together, from chaotic care home shifts to turbulent friendships and family expectations. However, something else is bubbling beneath the surface, and across the hour, the cracks in Kelly’s life begin to show.

Josh Pickar’s unlikely journey from spending seven years fighting the death penalty in the US through to arriving in clown school in France will take centre stage in his debut Edinburgh Festival Fringe stand-up hour Getting Off next month. Josh looks to take the audience through an absurd comedy about the American death penalty, the institutions that run it, and how one lapdance took it down. We caught up with him for a pixelated pint to find out more.

Developed through first-hand accounts form those who have experienced and survived male violence, Man or Bear arises from the titular question – would you rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear? Blending ‘kitchen sink realism’, music and physical sequences, it follows three generations of women in the lead up to an act of violence, allowing their voices to take centre-stage.

Musical comedy performer Liv Rocklin makes her Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut next month, with her genre-blending whirlwind of stand-up, original songs, and storytelling that dives headfirst into the beautifully messy reality of losing control.
