All in all, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend is a big deal.
LIVE REVIEW: Sŵn Festival 2024
It is fair to say that Sŵn Festival, the multi-venue event bringing alternative music of all stripes to the Cardiff city centre, can by now be regarded as an institution within the Welsh musical scene. In one form or another, it has been running since 2007, and credit has to be given to its organisers in that they are constantly trying to shake things up rather than rely on a tried-and-tested formula.

Love it or hate it, it is generally accepted that Autumn marks the end of festival season; yet, for the happiness of those who are not ready to let go of the festival thrills quite yet, it has become increasingly frequent for large-scale events to be held well into the colder season. Cardiff’s Sŵn Festival has pioneered this trend, and has by now become a staple of the month of October in the Welsh capital.
LIVE REVIEW: BBC Radio 2 in the Park 2024
BBC Radio 2 in the Park brought the stars to Preston, the early September event took place across three days as one big extravaganza celebrating music and all that’s good about the UK’s most listened to radio station. Hosted in Preston’s Moor Park as a late summer hurrah, it was a mixture of sunshine and showers in the fields. Friday night was the Pre-Party, where a selection of the station’s presenting talent took part in DJ sets and kicked off the weekend’s festivities.

Manchester Psych Fest delivered its 11th edition on the last weekend of August 2024, it was a sun-soaked day packed with music, art and entertainment for all. This festival has so much going for it, and this year’s bill was incredibly filled with so much variety and intrigue that it made the choosing of who’s next and where’s next hard to figure out. But that’s the beauty of an all-dayer, it requires a bit of pre-planning but in the end it all comes down to where your feet take you on the day.

BBC Radio 2 is set to host its annual ‘In the Park’ music event in Preston this year, it’s a three-day celebration packed with live performances from some of the best known names in popular music, plus there will also be DJ sets from some of the station’s presenting talent (and for the first time ever, BBC Radio 2 in the Park has a Pre-Party happening the night before the main event begins).

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Live at Leeds In the Park 2024
At a time where music festivals are under an immense amount of pressure to deliver for their audiences and financial stressors are continuing to cause disruption, it is good to see a festival still going strong. Now in its third year, Live at Leeds: In the Park returned to Temple Newsam for a day-long, multi-stage musical adventure. There was wind, rain, clear skies, and big stars. It proved eventful.

We love a good festival, especially here in the UK, and Live at Leeds (specifically) always goes down well. The outdoor all-dayer returns this May, to the stunning location of Temple Newsam Park in Leeds. On Saturday, 25th May, spread across five stages, a host of familiar names and exciting emerging talent will perform for the masses. There’ll be sunshine (hopefully), tasty food, a reason to celebrate, and maybe we’ll even take home a new favourite musical obsession. Sound good?
LIVE REVIEW: Gretta Ray at O2 Apollo, Manchester
Gretta Ray released her sophomore album this past Summer, it’s called Positive Spin, and it is adamantly a pop record in all caps. And it completely deserves that very description. This album has catapulted Ray’s career into new heights, it’s already seen her play her biggest headline shows yet in her home country of Australia as well as opening shows for the likes of Sam Fender and Maisie Peters (who Ray is currently touring with across the UK and Ireland).
