After an ICE agent in plainclothes shot and wounded 28-year-old Oscar Belgal in the Bronx in front of his 5-year-old child on Oct. 8, Belgal is being held in solitary confinement at a federal jail, as reported by the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Belgal’s attorneys said in a statement that he does not have access to adequate medical care. The bullet fired by the ICE officer four days prior is still lodged in his neck.

DSNY Decides Against Reduced Parking Enforcement in Crown Heights, Prospect Heights
After the conclusion of a first-of-its-kind Alternate Side Parking (ASP) pilot program in partnership with the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) in parts of Prospect Heights and Crown Heights, the results were not what many had hoped. Council Member Crystal Hudson’s office launched the pilot to assess whether less frequent enforcement could achieve comparable results while reducing the burden on Brooklyn residents.
Six Brooklyn Subway Stations to Get New Fare Gates
Six Brooklyn subway stations are set to receive new touch-free fare gates as the MTA expands a citywide effort to reduce fare evasion and improve accessibility. The stations selected for the next phase are 36 St, Bedford Avenue, Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets, Myrtle Avenue and Newkirk Plaza. The upgrades are expected to begin by the end of 2026, with preparation work scheduled to start in October.

Brooklyn Man Arrested in Connection With 2 Vehicle Thefts in Elmont
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Sebastian Bedoya, 19, of Brooklyn, on Sunday. A Brooklyn man has been arrested in connection with two vehicle theft investigations in Elmont, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Officers responded to an Elmont home on Sept. 10 after a resident reported a 2001 Chevrolet had been stolen. The vehicle was later recovered. A week later, on Sept. 17, officers investigated the theft of a 2014 Kia from another Elmont residence.
Woman, Man Shot While Walking in Red Hook
Police sources say the two were walking when they felt pain and realized they had been shot. A woman and a man were shot in Red Hook late Sunday night, according to police. Both were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The shooting happened around 11:18pm at Lorraine and Hicks streets. Police say a 30-year-old woman was shot once in the chest, and a 23-year-old man was shot once in his right shoulder.
