Google Gemini CLI abused as a hacking agent, malware botnet operator
A Russian-speaking threat actor known as "bandcampro" used Google's open-source Gemini CLI AI tool as a hacking agent and to operate a small-scale botnet. The AI agent responded to the attacker's prompts, troubleshooting problems on the fly and even proposing operational improvements at least 59 times.
AsyncAPI npm packages infected with credential-stealing malware
Five malicious versions of AsyncAPI packages were published to the Node Package Manager (npm) in a supply-chain attack that delivered a remote access trojan with info-stealing capabilities. The threat actor exploited a misconfigured GitHub Actions workflow and pushed trojanized packages in the @asyncapi namespace that had a cummulative weekly download count of more than 2.25 million.
We built a vulnerability vending machine: AI tokens in, zero-days out
AI is changing how vulnerability research gets done, but most of the conversation is still theoretical: what a model might eventually be capable of, rather than what it can actually find today. We wanted to answer a more practical question: using the models already available to us right now, how far can AI take us in finding real, exploitable vulnerabilities in production software?
CISA warns admins to patch actively exploited SharePoint flaws
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) warned Tuesday that attackers are actively exploiting three vulnerabilities to hack Internet-exposed on-premises SharePoint Server instances. These security flaws (tracked as CVE-2026-32201, CVE-2026-45659, and CVE-2026-56164) affect all supported self-hosted SharePoint Server versions, including SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (the latest on-premises version, which uses a "continuous update" model).

Microsoft is blocking this month's Windows 11 security updates on some Dell devices because they are causing shutdowns and performance issues. This known issue affects only Dell systems after installing the KB5101650 cumulative update released this Tuesday for Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2 devices.
US charges alleged operators of Russian bulletproof hosting service
U.S. federal prosecutors have unsealed charges against three Russian nationals, accusing them of providing bulletproof hosting (BPH) services to ransomware gangs that caused over $62 million in damages to victims worldwide. BPH providers lease servers that help hinder disruption efforts targeting their malicious activities, including malware delivery, command-and-control operations, phishing attacks, and illicit content hosting.

SonicWall warns that threat actors have been exploiting two SMA1000 vulnerabilities, tracked as CVE-2026-15409 and CVE-2026-15410, in zero-day attacks and urges customers to install the newly released security updates. CVE-2026-15409 is a critical (CVSS 10.0) server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the SMA1000 Appliance Work Place interface that allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to force an appliance to make requests to unintended locations.
