This free add-on syncs your Fusion 360 models straight into Blender with one click, keeping materials, modifiers and light links intact through every re-sync. Jimin Kim writes: I model in Fusion 360 and render in Blender, and the part of that workflow nobody talks about is the second export. You export STEP or OBJ, reassign every material in Blender, re-mark sharp edges by hand, rebuild your modifier stack. Then you tweak one dimension back in Fusion and do the whole thing over again.

This video by Blender Secrets shows a kind of experimental workflow for sketching in 3D with Grease Pencil, and then converting that to a solid surface mesh object. It’s not a super reliable workflow and it takes a bit of practice, so I don’t recommend it for most people. But maybe someone out there will really enjoy this kind of process. VIDEO

VeeVeeVee’s new add-on lets you quickly set up a camera to match your current view. I have been using Blender for years to create 3D models for printing, and I always struggled with the camera. I would finish modeling something I was really proud of, and then the rendering part was just miserable. Getting the camera to frame what I was actually looking at, picking the right lens and frame shape, digging through render settings, re-rendering because something was off.

Blender has a lot to offer for VFX work – but falls a bit short when it comes to plate preparation and colour matching. This free extension is intended to fill that gap.
