The highlight is a new addition to Opera’s free, built-in VPN: it can now connect automatically when you join a public Wi-Fi network. Read more here. Stable Share September 17th, 2026 Hello! We’ve rolled out a new Opera Stable release built on Chromium 152.0.7977.120. The headline addition is support for the chrome.sidePanel API, which lets extensions render their own side panels. On the fixes side, “Save as PDF” now captures pages correctly again, the bookmarks bar no longer disappears after exiting full screen, and macOS 26 users will find that traffic lights react to hover as they should.

Hello! We’ve rolled out a new Opera developer release with a round of stability and polish fixes. We fixed several crashes: including one in tab hover cards, one after approving permissions for the ChatGPT extension, a macOS split screen crash, and crashes when dragging tabs between pinned and unpinned sections or switching workspaces with a split screen tab active. We also added an option to switch the New Tab button position from the context menu, and increased the drag-to-move space.

Hey all, In July we introduced Vertical Tabs to Opera One, a feature long requested by you. We implemented it like other browsers so the experience would feel familiar to you when switching to Opera, but we have to admit: placing the “New Tab” button at the bottom was a mistake. We spent weeks looking at your feedback, discussing it, and testing internally to understand how we could implement Vertical Tabs in a better way, our way.

Developer Share September 8th, 2026 Hello! We’ve rolled out a new Opera Developer focused on stability and polish. We fixed an issue where sessions could be wiped after a crash loop instead of simply skipping page loads, along with several crashes affecting the tab media list, tab collection moves, and Vertical Tabs-related crashes.
