The designs have been shaped by extensive community consultation undertaken across two phases of engagement, with local residents, families and park users helping guide the future of their neighbourhood parks. Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said the final designs reflect the priorities most consistently identified by the community throughout the consultation process. “Community consultation has been central to the development of these designs,” Cr Greenhill said.
Open the door to discovery at Blue Mountains Library

Blue Mountains community groups share in $60,000 Council grants
The Community Assistance Program recognises the important contribution community organisations make to the quality of life, wellbeing and connectedness of local residents. Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said the grants were a practical way for Council to support the people and organisations who help make the Blue Mountains such a strong and caring community.
Major milestone reached in the revitalisation of Blaxland town centre
The upgrade will transform the existing thoroughfare into a vibrant new town square and community gathering space. The works will include new paving and accessibility improvements, upgraded lighting and seating, landscaping, improved signage and wayfinding, and the installation of public art. Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said the project represents a significant investment in the future of Blaxland.
Memorial plaque unveiled for Private Ronald Field
The unveiling was attended by members of the Field family, friends and veterans and Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill. The plaque honours Private Field’s service in the Australian Army and recognises the sacrifices he made during Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. Born in Blacktown and raised in the Blue Mountains, Ronald Field served with distinction in the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR).
Council reaches annual road resealing target despite weather challenges
Extended periods of wet weather and the onset of winter have meant some scheduled resealing works in the upper mountains have been postponed. Road resealing relies on dry conditions and suitable temperatures so the bitumen and stone bond properly. Completing these works in poor conditions can reduce the life of the repair and lead to additional maintenance sooner than expected.
Safer streets and event-ready spaces for Lithgow town centre
The funding package brings together two complementary NSW Government programs: $1 million through the Safer Cities: Her Way 2 Program to improve the feeling of safety, accessibility and amenity along key pedestrian routes and $258,500 through the NSW Government’s Permit/Plug/Play Program, led by Transport for NSW, to streamline processes and support improvements to public spaces, making it easier to deliver street-based events and community activations.
