Board Game Quest
Online/Digital
Board Game Quest started in the summer of 2012 as a simple board game blog. The goal was to play games, post reviews, and session reports, and maybe encourage others to discover something new.
Since then, Board Game Quest has expanded in both content and popularity. What started as a simple blog has become a full board game news, review, and information site. Now Board Game Quest works hard to provide you with weekly board game reviews, news, interviews with game designers, and information on upcoming Kickstarters. We are constantly expanding the content we provide and increasing the frequency at which articles are posted. We hope you find a lot of information here and check back often. If you have something you’d like to see covered on the site, feel free to drop us a line via the contact page. Source

At Gen Con last year, I was really excited to try out the auto battler from Scorpion Masque named Tag Team. Designed by the duo of Gricha German and Corentin Lebrat, this unique 2-player game has seen its way to my table more times than I can count. To the surprise of absolutely no one, Scorpion Masque released the first expansion at Gen Con this year. As it was teased in the box of the original game, most gamers knew this was on the way.
Horrified: Dungeons and Dragons Ravenloft Review
Ravensburger keeps expanding the Horrified universe, and this time it takes players into the legendary mists of Barovia, the Transylvanian-flavored setting Wizards of the Coast built for Dungeons & Dragons. Designed by Peter Lee, a veteran of over a dozen D&D-themed games including Lords of Waterdeep and Castle Ravenloft, and Nick Tourville this entry brings a familiar hand to unfamiliar territory. If you know the classic monster movie version of Horrified, the bones here will feel familiar.
Convention Bag of Holding Preview
While you may not be super familiar with a company called Rollacrit, chances are you may have seen some of their products. They dabble in quite a few different things in geekdom. They’ve published a pretty successful board game called Heroes of Barcadia. They sell all kinds of apparel, including Gen Con branded ones. And in 2023, they successfully funded a Kickstarter to the tune of 1.2 million for their Messenger Bag of Holding.

It’s after dark and the nethers prepare for battle with a 100% brand new standalone Organ Attack game by The Awkward Yeti.
Everdell: Emerland Review
Everdell is a medium-weight city-building game that has garnered great attention and popularity owing to its solid worker placement/engine-building design (James Wilson), the fun toy-factor of squishy berry resources, and also its evocative artwork by Andrew Bosley replete with adorable anthropomorphic animal critters. City building is just so much more fun when the post office is run by a postal pigeon, and your storehouse is the hollow of a tree managed by a squirrel.
Spell Review
Spell is a compact head-to-head game of tile placement, area control, and pattern recognition from Nuts!, designed and illustrated by Jesus Fuentes. It plays in about 20 minutes (over up to 6 rounds), and the whole thing fits in a tiny box. Get out your sonic screwdriver, because this game is definitely bigger than its box. The goal is simple: reach 16 power (points) before your opponent does. Each turn, you and your mage take two actions.
Shards of Creation Review
There’s something about a trick-taker that always feels comfortable to me. But it’s tricky! Stay too close to the genre’s essentials and a new entry can feel unnecessary; stray too far, and it loses what makes trick-takers satisfying. Shards of Creation, a trick-taking game with some flair designed by Hayden Dillard, with art by Medusa Dollmaker… lands pretty squarely in the middle. Shards of Creation is published by Brotherwise Games and plays from 2-4 players.
Questline Review
When I was first offered a review copy of Questline, I’ll admit I had never heard of it. Some quick research revealed that it is a small-box filler game for 1-6 players that plays like Fantasy Realms, but with a few twists. Fantasy Realms (and its derivative Fantasy Realms: Greek Legends) is probably my most-played filler/travel game of all-time, so honestly, that’s all I needed to know to get excited.
Stonk Market Review
Allplay’s 2026 Gen Con display was stocked with varying sizes of colorful small-box games. The smallest of their boxes featured a cover with the stonk meme illustration as executed by artist Sai Beppu. Then, seeing the good doctor Reiner Knizia’s name attached, I was intrigued.
Camp Grizzly 2nd Edition Review
For those of you who read our Gen Con articles (Most Anticipated Games and Recap), you’ll notice that Camp Grizzly: 2nd Edition was my most anticipated game and it was also my pick of the convention. I picked up a copy of it at the con, and I think I must have played it 4-5 times there with different groups. Now that I’m back home and have had a few more plays under my belt, the question remains whether the game still shines outside of the convention atmosphere.
