A video purportedly showing members of a rescue team recovering a girl trapped under rubble and helping her to safety is being circulated as real footage of the Nepal Armed Police Force rescuing a minor girl named Manisha from beneath debris following a flash flood in Nepal. BOOM found that the girl’s rescue was a real incident, but the video being shared in connection with it was generated using AI.

A video from Vietnam has been misreported by Indian media outlets as showing two minor siblings searching for their parents after the devastating flash floods in Nepal. More than 1,280 people have died and over 5,600 remain missing on both sides of the China-Nepal border following the flash floods in the Himalayas.

A disturbing video showing the recovery of the body of a rape and murder victim in Bangladesh is being shared on social media with the false claim that the incident took place in West Bengal and that Bharatiya Janata Party workers are accused in the case. BOOM found that the video is from Shibchar in Madaripur district, Bangladesh, and shows the recovery of the body of 28-year-old Shampa Khatun. Bangladesh Police arrested a man identified as Faruk Mollah in connection with the case.

BOOM found that the letter is fake and AI-generated. The document also contains errors which are inconsistent with an official historical letter.
