The world is a lot less sparkly this week. Bob Mackie, the costume designer, fashion and entertainment legend, died Monday after an astounding six-decade career, with an impact (and delicious stories) that stretched from the days of Marlene Dietrich and Judy Garland to Miley Cyrus and Zendaya. His designs appeared on TV, in film, on concert and Broadway stages, in Vegas revues, on red carpets, magazine covers and the New York runways. And his workroom in Los Angeles rivaled any Paris couture house.

One month after the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that its 2027 Costume Institute exhibition and Met Gala would be devoted to John Galliano, the museum has scrapped the plan following backlash over the designer’s history of antisemitic and racist remarks.

Source: FX When I first saw Less Than Zero, the glamorous 1987 neo-noir film based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel of the same name, it made quite an impression. Gorgeous Jami Gertz in her sharp black tailoring and tight short skirts. Andrew McCarthy in his red Corvette driving through the neon night. The swimming pools, cigarettes and so, so much cocaine. It was incredibly seductive, if deeply tragic in its portrayal of addiction.
