All the candidates say they are running because they want CPS to better serve students and families. But they differ broadly in their approaches — Biggs wants to focus on a better-functioning board, Henderson on offering an outsider perspective to issues like the budget crisis and charter fundings, and Dominguez is proposing big initiatives, such as increasing access to youth jobs.

“For refugees that come here, we all have dreams of contributing, but oftentimes we get bombarded with misinformation that the only thing available for us is Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and that’s how our life should go, and I just didn’t accept that,” Rfat said.
