The British Pharmacological Society is very sad to announce the following deaths: Professor Thomas Bolton Professor Bolton joined the British Pharmacological Society (BPS) in 1970 and was elected to Honorary Fellowship in 2009. For nearly two decades, I’ve been an active, full member of the British Pharmacology Society (BPS) and regularly attend the BPS annual meeting. As a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen, I take pride in helping select our final-year student for the Undergraduate BPS Pharmacology Prize. The BPS Events team delivers 30-40 events each year, including our much-anticipated annual meeting. We have recently opened registration for this year’s edition, Pharmacology 2024, which will take place in Harrogate, Yorkshire on 10-12 December 2024. We started our planning for this meeting back in 2023, agreeing a venue, beginning to secure sponsors, and pulling together the core themes for the programme.
The Glasgow Pharmacological Society (GPS) has had a busy year hosting some fascinating and inspiring lectures! The GPS is led by students and staff from Glasgow’s three universities: Glasgow Caledonian University, the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde. The aims of the GPS are to promote pharmacology and also to provide a local support network for pharmacologists. All of our lectures are followed by a social event with pizza and drinks.
Member organisations and learned societies exist to support the work of their members, to provide services and opportunities, and to nurture networking and professional development. For us at the British Pharmacological Society (BPS), this manifests in many different ways.
The British Pharmacological Society is pleased to present the return of our in-person educators networking meeting. For 2024 this meeting will take place in York. This meeting will not be offered as a hybrid meeting or be recorded. There will be lots of networking for educator attendees and small breakout working groups for educators to share content and ideas. We will provide lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
