The Eckhardt-Gramatté Conservatory of Music is bringing convenience and simplicity to its registration process with the launch of a new online enrolment system for summer programming. The Conservatory will offer three camps for budding musicians across the region this summer. The Brandon Conservatory Choral Summer Choir Camp will take place from July 20 to 24, and is open to all youth from Grades 4 to 9.

Brandon University’s Co-operative Education Program is celebrating the largest cohort in program history, another year of exceptional student employment outcomes, and the launch of a new fund designed to help even more students access meaningful work-integrated learning experiences. More than 60 students, alumni, employers, mentors, and community leaders gathered Tuesday evening for the BU Co-op Impact Event, which highlighted the program’s continued growth and success.

A Brandon University (BU) School of Music faculty member has been nominated for a 2026 Western Canadian Music Award. Luis Ramirez, a BU graduate who is now an Assistant Professor of Music Theory at his alma mater, is one of five nominees for Classical Composer of the Year for his work Leaven, performed by the string quartet Atlys. The awards will be presented at BreakOut West, a conference and music festival taking place from September 30 to October 4 in Victoria.

Brandon University is proud to support the 1st Regiment of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery from Canadian Forces Base Shilo as part of the Freedom of the City parade taking place in Brandon on Thursday, June 11. The university will provide staging space on campus for approximately 120 soldiers and four military vehicles before the parade, which will start at 9:30 a.m. and march towards Brandon City Hall, where the Mayor will deliver an address.

A Brandon University research and arts-based initiative is using anonymous postcards to invite families and community members to share thoughts, reflections, and experiences they wish teachers knew. The project collects homemade and digital postcards featuring anonymous messages about schooling, parenting, learning, disability, mental health, equity, financial barriers, bullying, and more unseen experiences.

Brandon University’s Mini University program is expanding hands-on science and technology learning opportunities for youth and teachers across Western Manitoba thanks to new federal funding through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) PromoScience program.

Brandon University was proud to celebrate Indigenous graduates at the “Our Journey: Celebrating Indigenous Student Success” event, held on Friday, May 22. Due to forecast rain, it was moved from the Riverbank Discovery Centre instead to the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre. Perhaps uniquely, “Our Journey” is a graduation celebration that brings together Brandon University, Assiniboine College, and the Brandon School Division.
