Before jumping into my review for Zombie Army Trilogy, I would like to point out that this game was originally released on March 6, 2015. The code for this game was recently found and Brash Games fully intends to make use of it. In fact, I feel a little lucky to get to review Zombie Army Trilogy since it actually is a really fun title.
Zombie Vikings Review
What do you get when you cross Stick it to the Man with Castle Crashers? I sincerely doubt anyone would guess Zombie Vikings, but here we are. Borrowing common gameplay elements from beat-em-up side scrollers like Castle Crashers and combining them with the twisted minds over at Zoink Games works out wonderfully in this charming (albeit bizarre) title. In an attempt to quantify the wackiness offered by this game, let’s lightly talk about the story and how it starts.
Kingdom: New Lands Review
Kingdom: New Lands is a very unique strategy game in which players will take control of a king or queen with the goal of protecting their crown. This means players will need to start a camp that will eventually grow and expand into your very own kingdom, hence the name. Speaking of the name, the “New Lands” part is there due to this being the ‘expanded’ version of the game. Kingdom was already released elsewhere before, but didn’t have several of the features it has now.
Upon first inspection, I could not figure out exactly what Has Been Heroes actually was. On one hand, the map in the bottom right told me I would be exploring the world by picking which direction to travel. On the other hand, I simply could not figure out how my characters were going to fight the enemy units. In fact, the only thing I did know (thanks to the game’s description) was that my band of heroes was going to be tasked with escorting the twin princesses to their academy.
Dark Arcana: The Carnival Review
Dark Arcana: The Carnival is the latest game from Artifex Mundi, everyone’s favorite casual game supplier. Using the tried and true gameplay mechanics from their previous titles, Artifex Mundi has created yet another wonderfully fun mystery game that utilizes hidden object scenes and puzzles. Much like their other titles, Dark Arcana focuses mostly on the story and far less on making compelling gameplay or breathtaking visuals.
Talent Not Included Review
Platformers have always been a weird genre for me. On one hand, I really enjoy good platforming with interesting mechanics including things like combat, secrets, and enemies. On the other hand, a lot of platformers suffer from stale gameplay, boring levels/enemies, or silly concepts that keep the game from being fun. Luckily, Talent Not Included has everything a good platformer can have and more.
#KILLALLZOMBIES Review
In its most simple description, all you do in #KILLALLZOMBIES is well… Kill all zombies. I know it probably doesn’t sound innovative or even that fun in those terms, but I want to be completely clear as I review the game. The game looks, sounds, and feels great. I can’t fault it on any looks simply because the game can handle having so much going on without any issues. Realistically, the goal of the game is to survive as long as you can and to try and beat other high scores.
Shift Happens Review
With orange and blue being complimentary colors, it should come as no surprise that several games use them to distinguish their co-op characters or various other elements. With Portal being the first example that comes to mind, I can say that it is an effective tactic that is appealing to the eye at the very least. Being a puzzle-platformer focused on co-op, Shift Happens’ color choice is not the only thing that made me think of Portal.
Punch Club Review
For the uninitiated, Punch Club is a boxing tycoon management game that asks players to guide an up-and-coming fighter through the ranks of various tournaments. Tiny Build and Lazy Bear Games has also included the previously released DLC with the Xbox version of Punch Club, meaning there’s even more content available. No matter what part of the game you’re playing, it is important to keep in mind that Punch Club is actually a manager game, not a fighting game.
Aqua TV Review | Brash Games
Personally, I’ve never understood the wide-spread fascination with keeping pet fish. Fish can be neat and all, but keeping them in a glass case always seemed like it would be boring. When I was given the chance to review Aqua TV, I decided it would be a fun idea to test and see what it would be like to have my own, albeit virtual, fish tank. After the app downloaded, I started it up and was promptly greeted with a bunch of example tanks to show off what the app can do.
