The Building Research Establishment (BRE) has opened voting for the People’s Choice categories at the BREEAM Awards 2026, giving the public the opportunity to recognise projects and organisations leading the way in sustainable building design, operation and management. BREEAM Infrastructure: 10 Dock Facility submarine dockyard excellence - BRE Group Babcock International Group’s redevelopment of the 10 Dock facility at Devonport Royal Dockyard has earned a BREEAM Infrastructure Excellent rating of 90.59% at Strategy and Interim Design Assessment — scoring the maximum 100% in Resilience, Land use and ecology, Landscape and historic environment, and Pollution, and exceeding the Ministry of Defence’s Very Good target.

BRE is offering a free online assessment for construction teams to assess their waste management practices, and identify where they can make improvements. Developed to complement BRE’s SmartWaste software, the tool takes around three minutes to complete, giving construction professionals a clear view of where to focus their effort. SmartWaste has supported £306bn of construction value across more than 27,000 projects.
