Nostalgia comes in all forms. A big part of my childhood nostalgia comes from movies and my favourite time of year, Halloween. My sisters, brothers, and I spent our time watching cartoons and movies when we weren’t outside playing. We had a small collection of VHS movies that we watched on repeat. One of those movies was E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

What is MILS? Modular Integrated Landscaping System, or MILS for short, is a system that describes how to build modular landscapes. The modularity of MILS is its key innovation. By standardizing both how modules interconnect and the visual features of module boundaries; builders can combine their modules into collaborative layouts while maintaining consistency of style and appearance. The origin of MILS can be traced back to HispaBrick Magazine issue 013.

A year or two ago my LUG received many old models that had been on display or stuck in storage for years—and they looked it. Peeling back some of the bricks revealed layers of grime that had snuck into weird places, white bricks yellowed to the hue of a peach, and something unexpectedly gooey my fingers touched every now and then. I wish I had pictures to disgust you with.
How To Make Custom Printed Cloth Flags for LEGO Projects
I had a very long dark age from the LEGO hobby (approximately 25 years!). My best guess is I stopped collecting somewhere around 1993 and wouldn’t return until 2018. Even though some Castle sets came out before my dark age, we did not seem to have any growing up. We had very limited funds for LEGO, and most of what we bought were City sets.
Flying New Colors: Re-theming the LEGO Ideas Sea Serpent
Over the past few years we’ve been getting quite a delightful series of sets from LEGO as they revisit old Castle themes, and the latest GWP continues that trend in spades with a lovely modern makeover of the 6057 Sea Serpent. The revamped set was developed from last year’s LEGO Ideas Twist of Nostalgia contest winner, HallowedBrick02’s. The final rendition makes for an enjoyable build with almost twice as many parts as the original from the ‘90s.

Roald Dahl was once quoted that he’d remove January to have an extra July instead – and with the amount of contests and challenges that you can build for this months, he might have been on to something. There’s plenty on offer in our latest lineup of LEGO contests and challenges from across the AFOL community. There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to nudge you out of your comfort zone this July 2026 and push you to experiment building in ways you might not otherwise attempt.

The Statue of Liberty is widely recognized not just by Americans but worldwide as a symbol of freedom. A beloved icon, it has amazingly been recreated in at least ten iterations of LEGO sets. Today we are going to look at each and every LEGO Statue of Liberty. We will only be covering versions that are brick-built and have been available for purchase, so that excludes the many versions found in LEGOLAND Minilands, costumes, bag tags, and more.

Today’s guest article comes from Richard Dryden, a builder, DJ and sneakerhead who has competed on LEGO Masters and helped create the Awesome Black Creativity project. Hey BrickNerd fans! We spend a lot of time, and I mean A LOT of time, talking about the building experience, and what goes into designing official sets and MOCs.We interview designers, analyze techniques, admire clever part usage, and celebrate beautiful finished models. But has anyone stopped to ask the LEGO creations themselves what they think about the whole process? The kind of stuff they have to put up with along the way? The endless sorting. The dramatic pauses. The photos.

Earlier this year, we challenged you to build your most adorable LEGO creation… something so irresistibly cute it would make us stop and say, “Awww!” (or perhaps even let out an involuntary “Squeee!”). And you didn’t disappoint. We received 75 entries filled with charm, personality, and enough smiles to brighten even the grumpiest day. This year’s AdoraBuild featured our classic three categories: Small Scale, Sweet Scenes, and Cuddly Characters.
