FESTIVAL PREVIEW: Edinburgh Psych Fest, 06/09/2026
Once again the Edinburgh Psych Fest plays out a weekend of psychedelia music that begin in Brighton on Friday 4th before moving on to Manchester on Saturday 5th and ending in Auld Reekie. The line-up this year is jaw-dropping whether it be ‘breakthrough band’ Angine de Poitrine or the well-established Stereolab who will both attract massive crowds to their sets over the full weekend.

They’ve toured with artists like Yungblud, played landmark gigs including a filmed show in Mexico City, and now they’re releasing their fifth record: Everything’s Falling.

With a packed schedule, plenty of old favourites and a new generation of bands ready to make their mark, we wasted no time getting stuck in. Thursday First stop: the Casbah. Our first band of the weekend were Slackrr, who had the difficult challenge of an early afternoon slot in the Casbah.

The upcoming album serves as the sister record to 2016’s sophomore full-length La Petite Mort or A Conversation With God. In light of the announcement, the band have also released a video for their new single LOVE KILLS. “LOVE KILLS reveals there is no ceremonial difference between weddings and funerals,” explains vocalist and songwriter David Gunn.

The odd town dotted across the land, untouched by high-rises, and then atop the lip of the cliff-face in direct pairing from Newquay airport you see the tip of the ferries wheel and then, finally, after trapsing from the tip of the carpark, the mainstage.

Photo Credit: Jude Harrison Karen Dió has released her sophomore EP Fugaz, out now via Hopeless Records. “The word “fugaz” is Portuguese for fleeting, brief, transient or short-lived,” Dió explains. “Life itself is “fugaz,” it goes really fast and changes all the time. This EP is about me dealing with that in the last couple of years. All the fast changes that have happened to my life, my body, my career and the world around me.

Although the album was released more than fifteen years ago, its songs have lost none of their energy or popularity.
