In this What Now? conversation, psychiatrist Kris Kaliebe gives a forensic accounting of how medical associations became captured, and the current reality of “geography-based care.” Where should we go from here? Battle of the Brands at the WNBA
This post is free for all to comment on and share. If so moved, please consider a paid subscription. Here’s a discount offer: I’ll be writing a bit less in the next few weeks as I attend to book revisions, but next week I start my “What Now?” series—interviews with various stakeholders about what they’d like to see happen with the institutionalization and medicalization of gender identity, long-term. I have a great lineup of guests, and am open to your suggestions for whom else to interview.
Rally for the W in WNBA, Tomorrow in Brooklyn
Over fifteen years ago, I vowed never to set foot in Barclays Center. As someone who spent most of my life obsessed with urban planning (how I miss those days of a much healthier obsession), I was appalled by what was constructed at the busiest intersection in Brooklyn. Not just the giant space alien turd—as I describe the arena’s architecture—but the attached mall and the choked-off streets around it repeated the original sins of urban planning.
What’s Not the Matter with Kansas?
In this week’s episode of Whatever This Is, Sarah and Lisa talk again about book-writing (and revising), and Lisa laments once again that no one is paying for her facelift. On tap: a discussion of M. (formerly known as Masha) Gessen’s recent New York Times opinion piece (What’s happening in Kansas should alarm us all); the Department of Health and Human Services’ new report on fraud in gender medicine; and WPATH’s downgrading of its own standards of care.
The Tragic Affirmation of Jason Arday
This post is free to read and comment on. If so moved, please consider a paid subscription. By now, many of us know the tragic story of Jason Arday’s life and death. He was celebrated as the University of Cambridge’s youngest black professor, a talented athlete, and prolific fundraiser for charity. That is, until first a journalist, and then a philosopher who describes himself as a "race realist," exposed Arday’s long history of plagiarism and mendacity.
All Hail the New Women of the MenBA
The suggested men of the WNBA are not the trolls. They are known, visible, and public. They are agitating against the unnamed, hidden cowards who hide within committees within pseudo-medical organizations, within vast medical institutions, behind instantaneous diagnoses, fraudulent billing records, and unnecessary surgeries designed by Satan & performed by Dr Frankensteins to create a new societal class of eunuchs incapable of reproduction & chemically dependent for the rest of their lives.
Oreos
Your child only wants to eat Oreos. He begs for them. In the beginning, you say no. Or you say: You can have two. After dinner.

Hence, I started listening to the new podcast Book Keeper without knowing anything about it, other than that it was hosted by Megan Phelps-Roper.
