Located in historic Providence, Rhode Island and founded in 1764, Brown University is the seventh-oldest college in the United States. Brown is an independent, coeducational Ivy League institution comprising undergraduate and graduate programs, plus the Alpert Medical School, School of Public Health, School of Engineering, and the School of Professional Studies.

Brown University has 51 doctoral programs and 32 master's programs. The broad scope of options vary from interdisciplinary opportunities in molecular pharmacology and physiology to a master's program in acting and directing through the Brown/Trinity Repertory Consortium.

AMSTERDAM – Brown University men's crew alumnus Gus Rodriguez '22 and the U.S. men's four won gold at the 2026 World Rowing Championships, taking first in the A final on Saturday in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The U.S. men's four opened competition with a victory in its heat on Aug. 25, clocking a 6:22.22 to top second-place France (6:25.62) and four other crews in heat two to advance to the semifinals.
