Absentee ballots available for General Election Absentee ballots for the November 3, 2026 General Election are available in the Dallas County Clerk's Office. Voters who are not able to vote at the polls on Election Day are eligible to cast an absentee ballot. Ballots may be cast in the County Clerk's Office or by mail. The last day to request a ballot by mail is 5:00 p.m., October 21, 2026. Voters may also vote in person, no excuse absentee starting October 20, 2026.

The Missouri State Poetry Society will hold its annual convention October 2 and 3 at the Second Baptist Church of Lebanon in the Rec Hall across the street from the church. All poets, amateur to "professional," are encouraged to attend. The event will kick off at 7 p.m., Friday evening with a poetry reading by guest poet Byron von Rosenberg. Some people call Rosenberg a children's poet, but his work has a depth that can touch and inspire any age.

Lake Conditions Lake Level: 838.68, 80-82 degrees Water condition: The lake is currently .32 of a foot low, down from last week. The water color is slightly stained in the upper ends, good visibility in the main lake. Crappie Action: Good The crappie fishing is very good. They are settled into a summer pattern on brush piles and trees. As the weather cools, look for fish to start moving shallower and become more aggressive. Pattern: The crappie are congregating around brush in 15-20 feet of water.

Shape Up is a FREE eight-week wellness campaign with an optional weight loss challenge for a small fee. The campaign will begin Friday, September 25, 2026, and end Friday, November 20, 2026. This fall’s Shape Up will honor the memory of long-time Shape Up participant, and five time Shape Up Winner, Stacey Chappell, and will address eight areas of wellness: Mental, Social, Physical Exams/Screenings, Physical, Nutritional, Intellectual, Spiritual and Environmental.

Senate Bill 68, the “Stop the Bleed Act” requires charter and public schools to have the kits available in high-traffic and elevated-risk areas.

FTS Heating and Cooling of Marshfield, Missouri, and Trane Corporation have made a major donation to Dallas County Habitat for Humanity. Habitat’s latest building project is a three-bedroom home on Benton Street in Buffalo. FTS generously donated all labor to install the home’s HVAC system and ductwork, and worked with its equipment supplier, Trane, which donated a top-of-the-line, high-efficiency HVAC unit for the project.
