Cyclosporiasis: Lettuce Diarrhea Outbreak 2026
Cyclosporiasis is an illness you get from the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis. It causes watery, explosive diarrhea and other stomach problems. There is an estimated total of over 7,000 suspected cases in at least 34 states. Though lettuce and salad greens are the most common sources, other possible sources include contaminated produce such as basil, cilantro, snow peas, strawberries and blackberries.
