When the Buffalo Bills decided to promote Joe Brady to head coach back in January, there were a ton of mixed reactions. Some fans were excited, some were furious, and some thought that the Bills made the wrong move to move on from Sean McDermott overall. However, in a short amount of time after he was hired, Brady put together a solid coaching staff that included landing Jim Leonhard as the defensive coordinator.

One week from today, the Buffalo Bills will be taking the field for their season opener when they take on the Houston Texans down in Houston. This will mark as the official start for the Joe Brady era and the expectations have not changed at all for the Bills. Changes may have happened on the coaching staff and on the roster, but fans are still expecting great things out of the Bills.

The addition of DJ Moore this past offseason gives the Buffalo Bills not just a new addition on offense, but perhaps the missing piece that the Bills have been looking for since Stefon Diggs. The wide receiver position had been a major issue the last two years for the team, and Moore was regressing in production with the Bears since Ben Johnson took over the team.

The Buffalo Bills will begin their season with a massive test when they face the Houston Texans on the road at NRG Stadium a week from today. It will be a wake-up call for the Bills, as in their last meeting during last season, the Texans beat the Bills 23-19. The team needs to be ready; in their last meeting, the Bills let their usually very mobile quarterback get sacked eight times, and the offensive line must do a better job of protecting Josh Allen when scrambling.

Keon Coleman is entering a crucial year this season for the Buffalo Bills, and he will be doing it in a new-look team that went through a lot of changes. When Coleman was drafted in 2024, he entered a situation where he was looked at as the replacement for Stefon Diggs. While he did show early flashes of promise in 2024 (125 yards vs. Titans in Week 7), a wrist injury he suffered limited his production.

In just over a week, the Buffalo Bills will kick off their 2026 season down in Houston as they will start their season against the Texans. Since January, the Bills have been changing things up on the roster and fans are going to see how it all comes together on the field. During the preseason, Bills Mafia got to see a glimpse of it in the first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers and it was a great sight. Now, it’s time to see them for all four quarters.

The Buffalo Bills' opening game vs. the Houston Texans is on Sunday, September 13th at 1:00 pm. While that is still over a week away, the team has some final changes to make before kickoff. This past Thursday, the Bills brought in seven players to try out and see where they may fit on their roster, per Jon Scott of WGRZ. Of those seven players, six were on the defensive side of the ball, and the one offensive player didn't meet the Bills' expectations.

When Sean McDermott was brought to Buffalo to become the next head coach for the Bills in 2017, it started the change that the organization needed in order to become who they are today. Coming from the Carolina Panthers as their defensive coordinator, McDermott was tasked to come in and clean up the mess that the Rex Ryan-era created. McDermott didn't just clean up that mess, him and Brandon Beane turned the Bills into a playoff team their first year in 2017.

There's no hemming and hawing to be had about the expectations surrounding the Buffalo Bills entering the 2026 season. This team needs to slay the dragon, win the AFC Championship Game, and preferably win the Super Bowl. They've spent far too much of the Josh Allen era falling one step short.
