A new sports bar is headed to downtown Orlando. Reeves Sports Bar is taking over the former Swiggs space at 50 E. Central Boulevard, next door to Casey’s on Central. The concept comes from Thriving Hospitality, the Orlando-based restaurant group behind spots including Thrive, Lamp & Shade and Packwoods. Reeves is being billed as a high-energy sports bar with food, beer and cocktails, with plans for a menu of updated pub fare.
The Black Sheep Is Starting To Look At Home in College Park
The Black Sheep’s new College Park location is starting to take shape at 1500 Edgewater Drive. A new roadside sign is now up, and the former 7-Eleven has gotten a noticeable exterior refresh, including new green awnings and a fresh coat of paint as work continues on the longtime needlepoint shop’s next home. The Black Sheep is relocating from its current location on North Orange Blossom Trail in Lockhart.
Turci Italian Deli Is Taking Over the Former Dunkin’ Drive-thru in College Park
When the Dunkin’ on Edgewater Drive closed earlier this year, we told you we’d keep an eye on the prominent College Park drive-thru. Now we know what’s coming. Turci Panino is moving a few blocks north and becoming Turci Italian Deli in the former Dunkin’ space. The scoop comes from Faiyaz Kara at Orlando Weekly, who reports that owners Vinicius Turci and Nathalia Kalil are expanding the concept beyond focaccia panini.
Hula Mula Bringing European-style All-day Cafe to Downtown Orlando
A new European-inspired all-day cafe is working toward a year-end opening in downtown Orlando. Hula Mula is taking over a 2,753-square-foot space at 201 S. Orange Avenue, Suite 105, where Steven Lorenz is planning the brand’s first U.S. location. The concept will feature a globally inspired menu with bagels, bowls, sushi, pastries and other light fare. Lorenz previously described Hula Mula as a European cafe that pulls influences from several countries rather than sticking to one particular cuisine.

Cows ’n Cabs is returning to Winter Park for its 14th year, with two nights of food, booze, and live music on November 5 and 7. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 4 at noon. The weekend starts Thursday, November 5, with Tapas & ’Tinis, a 300-person event from 7-10 p.m. featuring small bites from local restaurants paired with martinis.
Papa Llama Is Closing After Nearly 10 Years in Orlando
One of Orlando’s most celebrated independent restaurants is getting ready to say goodbye. Papa Llama owners Maria and Kevin Ruiz shared with Bungalower Friday morning that they have decided to close their Curry Ford restaurant after nearly a decade in business. “As you know, Kevin and I have been running PAPA LLAMA for almost ten years now. We’ve decided to close the doors at our restaurant,” Maria told Bungalower.
Anna Eskamani Is Handing Orlando Teens the Mic Tonight in Mills 50
Florida State Representative Anna Eskamani is inviting some of Orlando’s younger residents to tell Tallahassee what’s actually on their minds tonight. Eskamani will host a Teen Town Hall from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at The Burrow Cafe and Play, 618 N. Mills Avenue. The evening will begin with a recap of this year’s Florida legislative session before opening up for questions from students and their parents.
