The Harvard University Graduate School of Design has named London-based architect and writer Ellen Peirson the recipient of the 2026 Wheelwright Prize, awarding her $100,000 to support research into contemporary architecture with a global focus. Peirson’s winning proposal, Ultra-Processed Kitchens: Infrastructures of Extraction in the Home, examines the environmental and social impacts embedded within domestic kitchens.

In Los Angeles, AIA|LA has revealed the winners of its 2026 Board of Directors Awards, a group of architects, educators, advocates, and organizations shaping the profession well beyond the drawing board. Leading the field of honorees are Annie Chu and Rick Gooding of Chu-Gooding, who will receive the chapter's highest distinction, the AIA|LA Gold Medal, honoring more than three decades of influential work that has helped define Los Angeles' civic and cultural landscape.

A proposal reusing decommissioned buses as mobile playgrounds wins the 2026 Davidson Prize
A proposal to repurpose decommissioned New Routemaster buses into moveable playgrounds has won this year’s Davidson Prize. Called PLAYDECK, the winning project was conceived by R.U.A Studio, an interdisciplinary team comprising architects Ru Quan Phuah and Shaun Thomas, landscape architect and videographer Esther Yik Chi Chan, landscape architect and writer Carmen Du, and Jessica Huynh, all of WW+P Architects.
