These underbridge spaces, ranging from small niches to vast expanses, remain dormant, echoing the hum of the traffic above, waiting for visionaries to tap into their latent potential.

Vancouver is recognized around the world for its unique balance between urban density, livability, and nature. Framed by mountains and the Pacific coastline, the city has developed a distinct approach to city-building that prioritizes public space, sustainability, and quality of life. As Vancouver continues to evolve, new opportunities are emerging to reimagine how architecture can contribute to the future character of its downtown.

This presentation celebrates the museum’s fifth anniversary with a significant donation to the M+ Collections from Herzog & de Meuron (established Switzerland, 1978), the world-renowned architecture firm that designed the museum building. The exhibition showcases newly donated models, drawings, and material samples that reveal Herzog & de Meuron’s innovative architectural practice.

From 18 September to 29 November 2026, the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) presents its 12th edition: SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT. For more than 20 years, the IABR has brought together designers, researchers, policymakers, knowledge institutions and residents to explore how design can contribute to the major challenges facing society today.

From September 10 to 19, 2026, Paris Design Week confirms its growing momentum and international influence, bringing together established and emerging scenes around the same creative dynamic. Its heritage scope is expanding, taking over more and more iconic venues across the capital and redrawing the map of design in Paris. Factory is gaining maturity and establishing itself as a structuring laboratory for emerging creation and collectible design.

For the next three years, the Bethel Woods Art & Architecture Festival (BuildFest) will build upon its previous success by challenging designers and artists to collaborate on an interdisciplinary series of “acts.” Each year will build on the previous one, creating an interconnected set of installations, activations, and performances. Each act is guided by thematic words chosen for their overlapping meanings in performance and design.

Fantasy Street is an exhibition of new works on paper in two and three dimensions by Los Angeles-based artist Milano Chow. For this project, Chow mined the photo archives of the Los Angeles Public Library, drawing on images of movie palaces, shop windows, and apartment buildings contemporaneous with the construction of Hollyhock House to conjure an invented cast of buildings—structures that look documentary but exist nowhere.

The 2026 Housing Education Prize, presented by the AIA, its Housing and Community Development Knowledge Community, and the ACSA, has recognized three winning course proposals that take a broader view of what it means to prepare architects for the housing question. Their subjects range from design and development to policy, advocacy, research, and public service.
