Jaen said he had multiple interactions with the Halal truck operator in failed attempts to admonish the vendor, after the merchant had allegedly parked his commercial vehicle on East Tremont Avenue overnight, which is strictly prohibited. Despite the fact East Tremont Avenue is a major thoroughfare with commercial zones, general street storage of commercial trucks overnight is not allowed, according to NYC Department of Transportation’s traffic rules and regulations.
Housing lottery launches for four units in West Farms, rent starts at $2,000
New York City has launched an affordable housing lottery for four units at 2074 Honeywell Ave. in West Farms. The 6-story residential building features 20 housing units, with 16 at market rate. Each of the four units set aside in the housing lottery are intended for those earning 80% of the area median income and with an asset limit of $135,680. Two of the units set aside in the housing lottery are studios. The monthly rent for these units is $2,000.

Three Bronx hospitals earn certification for expanding access to doula care
Montefiore Medical Center, NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi have completed the city’s Doula-Friendly Hospital Program, becoming three of six hospitals citywide to receive the program’s first certificates, according to the Mayor’s Office. St. Barnabas Hospital is also participating in the program and is among the hospitals working toward completion. The expansion comes as the Bronx continues to face some of the city’s starkest maternal and infant health disparities.
