A partnership including Beyond Aero, London City Airport and University of East London and separate bids from DreamerBoy Technologies Ltd and Saxon Air will work with the UK Civil Aviation Authority to further explore the use of hydrogen fuel in aviation. This advice comes as around 2 million passengers* are expected to depart from airports across England, Scotland and Wales over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

New figures released today show that the three months from April to June 2026 were a record period for British air travel, with more than 81 million passengers travelling through UK airports. The strong performance comes despite disruption caused by the conflict in the Middle East. The CAA highlighted that short-haul flights to Western Europe are leading the way, with Dublin, Palma de Mallorca and Amsterdam among the most popular destinations.

Anne Heal brings more than twenty years of experience in regulation, governance and strategy across a range of regulated sectors. During her executive career she held senior leadership roles at BT Group and Openreach, specialising in regulatory affairs and corporate strategy.
