One of Australia’s quirkiest race days turns 20 this year when the Delta Ag ‘Caragabal Sheep Races’ return to the historic railway village of Caragabal on Saturday 12 September 2026. Featuring ‘Shorn But Not Forgotten’, ‘Marilyn Marino’ and ‘Tom Shanks’, the sheep clearly haven’t read the form guide, but their names capture the fun spirit of this regional community.

Woodstock Memorial Show: Get ready for a fantastic, affordable, family day out at the Woodstock Memorial Show this Sunday 6 September. Highlights include free camel rides with Bushfield Farm Camels, The Pretty Amazing Jono and Rob Bast Sculptor – watch amazing creations take shape with a chainsaw. The Calleen Art Award is an annual acquisitive painting prize and exhibition, running at the Cowra Rgioanl Art Gallery from 6 September to 18 October. It presents the best of contemporary Australian painting in any style, theme or subject. The Award was established in 1977 as an acquisitive art prize by Mrs Patricia Fagan OAM to encourage originality, creativity and excellence in the visual arts, and is made possible by the generous support of the Calleen Trust.

The new $8.3 million Canowindra HealthOne is ready to open its doors to patients, staff and visitors, providing enhanced, integrated and multi-disciplinary community healthcare services from a modern, purpose-built facility. Final preparations are underway to formally open the new facility, after the local community joined healthcare staff and project teams on site last week to mark the completion of construction and walk through the new building.

The Cowra Magpies put on a wonderful day last weekend for the Woodbridge Cup 2026 Grand Final, to all clubs and supporters who attended thank you for a wonderful atmosphere you all provided. The results of the daye were as follows: Youth League Cowra Magpies 42 v Oberon Tigers 8.Do not let the score line fool you on this one. It was a hard fought game. Both teams showed up and had some really big hits and both left nothing in the tank.

Last weekend the Canowindra Junior Pythons rugby union club celebrated the end of the 2026 season with their annual presentation night, celebrating all the kids and recognising their hard work, improvement and achievements throughout the year.
