Search ArticlesWas Jesus ever afraid?
There is no specific verse in the New Testament that says that Jesus was ever afraid. But, we can conclude that He was afraid when facing what He had to go through on the cross. It would be a terrifying prospect and naturally bring fear into anyone who knew he would experience it. The word “afraid” in Greek is ÏοβÎÏ phobéÅ. It occurs 92 times in the N.T., and the NASB95 is rendered as afraid (Matt. 1:20; Mark 4:41; Luke 2:10, etc.), fear (Luke 1:50; John 12:15, etc.), frightened (1 Pet.
Did Jesus, God in flesh, experience normal human emotions?
Yes, Jesus experienced normal human emotions. This is because Jesus is both God and man, i.e., the hypostatic union. Being a man, He would have experienced the normal emotions that a man would have experienced – otherwise, how is He a man? The range of emotions attributed to Jesus are as follows: Anger (Matt. 21:12-13), Compassion (Matt. 9:36; 14:14; Mark 1:41), Dread (Luke 22:44), Distress (Mark 14:33), Fear (Matt. 26:38), Grief/Sadness (Matt.
Does Noah's ark show that works are necessary for salvation?
It is true that Noah’s work of building the ark ‘saved’ him from the flood’s destructive cleansing. Some say that Noah’s work of building the ark was necessary for him not to die, showing that works are necessary for salvation.Β But Noah being saved from the flood is not the same thing as being saved from God’s eternal damnation. Noah’s obedience is simultaneous with his works. He believed God and the works were a manifestation of his belief.
What do we do when a pastor leaves the church?
When a pastor leaves the church, it does not mean that the church should fall apart or that your spiritual health should be affected. Our relationship with God is supposed to be focused on Christ (1 Cor. 1:9), and the pastor is merely a conduit to explain and teach the truth of who Christ is and what He did for us (Eph. 4:11β13).
Is the Bible completely true?
Yes, the Bible is completely true. It is always true when it recounts history, teaches doctrine, reveals who Jesus is, what is required for our salvation, and what happens to those who reject Christ.Β It is also true when it quotes a lie. For example, in the Garden of Eden, Satan told Eve a lie about eating the fruit and what would happen to her if she did. βYou surely will not die! (Gen. 3:4). The Bible accurately and truthfully quotes what a lie is, not that it endorses it.
Are there generational curses in the Bible?
To answer the question if there are generational curses in the Bible, we must first define our terms. A generational curse can be understood in two different senses. First, it can be how a person affects his family and descendants. So, for example, if a father were to move his family into the desert and they suffered for several generations because of it, that’s one type of curse.
When did Jesus become God?
Answering the question of when Jesus became God is not as easy as it might appear. This is because there are two different ways we can respond. First, the person of Jesus came into existence 2000 years ago. In other words,Β Jesus is one person with two distinct natures: God and man. We call this the hypostatic union. It means that Jesus has two distinct and simultaneous natures – unlike us. So, 2000 years ago, the union of the divine nature and the human nature occurred (John 1:1, 14).
How old were Jesus' disciples? What's the age of Jesus' disciples?
The Bible does not tell us how Jesus’ disciples were at the time of Christ. However, we can draw implications from some of the information in the New Testament. Please consider the following. Matthew Matthew was a tax collector. Generally, tax collectors would have to be mature and speak Hebrew, probably Greek, and Latin to be a liaison between the Jews and the Romans. They would also have to know how to write and work with numbers to keep books.
Person and Personhood as they relate to the Father and Jesus
The following table is designed to help people understand the problems of oneness theology regarding person and personhood as they relate to the Father and Jesus. Oneness states that God is not a Trinity of three persons but of only one. It proceeds by asking questions. Question 7 is where the Oneness will have difficulty trying to make sense of their theology when applied to Jesus. You can review this table one point at a time or skip to Question 7.
What are the different feasts and celebrations of the Jews?
The feasts and celebrations of the Jews emphasized the continuity of their religious and social life. They brought the Jews to a place of remembrance and appreciation for God’s work to deliver and provide for them throughout history—not only in the past but also in the present. The feasts, celebrations, and observations also served to unify the people of God as a group when they participated in observing them.
