A 61-year-old man was arrested Thursday for violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions after a vehicle rollover incident on Morgan Mill Road, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report. Deputies responded at 6:16 p.m. to the incident. A deputy spoke with witnesses who said a male passenger in the vehicle ran to a nearby trail. The deputy located the man, who was was detained. As the deputy spoke with him they noticed he had an odor of alcohol coming from his person.

This week, Catmandu introduces some very sweet residents. Perhaps one may be your next best friend. These loving, healthy senior cats came to us after their owner passed away. She had quite a few cats, but it was clear that each and every one had been well-loved and cared for. Now, these wonderful cats are looking for a home where they can spend their remaining years being loved just as much as they deserve. They can go to new homes individually or with someone else from the group.

Next Tuesday, August 18 marks the kick off for the Brewery Art Center’s annual Plein Air Festival and competition, a four-day, outdoor art event open to artists across all ages, experience levels, and mediums. For five years, the competition functioned as Carson City Watercolors, a similar contest though open to watercolor-only artists. According to BAC Deputy Director Val Moore, the contest was brought to the Brewery Arts Center by its creator, local artist Colleen Reynolds.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying persons of interest connected to a physical altercation that occurred during the early morning hours of July 12, 2026, outside Lake Tahoe AleWorX in Stateline, Nevada. The main person of interest, shown in the center of the accompanying photograph, is described as a white male with a light-colored beard.

According to NV Energy’s outage map, over 14,000 customers are without power throughout Douglas County Thursday. The National Weather Service based out of Reno issued a Tornado warning for Thursday, August 13, 2026 through at least 2:30 p.m. This is a developing story.
