Vincent S Adams died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sept. 2, 2026. He was born on Feb. 1, 1951, in Cedar City, Utah, to Sherwin and Patricia Vincent Adams. Vince was raised in Enterprise, where he spent many hours farming with our dad. He graduated from Enterprise High School in 1969, where he enjoyed participating in high school sports. He then attended Utah Tech Provo where he graduated in May 1971 with a degree in drafting and design.

Blaine Norman Awerkamp was born April 18, 1938, to Edward P. Awerkamp and Esther L. Bingham in Bell, California. Blaine grew up in Whittier, California, and met Charlene (GeeGee) Edmunds at church activities when they were teenagers. They both attended BYU, where their relationship began. They were married in 1960 and filled the next 59 years with love and laughter. He received a degree in agricultural economics and had hopes of owning and optimizing a large farm.

Grand Canyon National Park continues response and recovery operations following the significant Aug. 29 flash flood in Bright Angel Canyon and the Phantom Ranch area. Search operations remain active, while crews continue infrastructure assessments, stabilization work and efforts to restore a reliable water supply to the South Rim. The park now has a path forward to restore water service and, based on current progress, expects that work to take weeks, not months.

Those traveling along state Route 18 near Central on Thursday evening may see what appears to be a catastrophic scene: dozens of injured people, ambulances rushing to and from the area, firefighters cutting apart vehicles and emergency lights flashing near the starting line of the St. George Marathon. Enterprise Fire Chief Brenden Moody told St. George News the scene will be staged.

A 64-year-old man is in critical condition after crashing a motorcycle on state Route 20 in Iron County, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The crash occurred Monday shortly after 1 p.m. near milepost 11 in the Bear Valley area. UHP Lt. Zach Randall said the man was riding east when he "failed to negotiate the curve." He went off the road and collided with the guardrail. Randall said the man was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.

Parishioners recently gathered at St. George Orthodox Christian Church on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 for two services marking the beginning of the church’s new liturgical year. This occasion included a two-day visit from Bishop Anthony Michaels, who oversees the church’s diocese covering the western United States. During his visit, Michaels spoke to the parishioners about the bishop’s role as a living icon of Jesus Christ in the church’s theology. Though Sept.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Parowan on Monday morning to watch the Iron County Fair Parade, a popular Labor Day tradition. The parade followed the 2026 fair's "Rockin' the 90's" theme, with numerous entries showcasing classic rock music and era-appropriate hair and clothing styles.

The Cedar High School girls varsity cross-country team took first place in the afternoon division of the Timpanogos XC Invitational in Orem on Friday. Cedar’s Eliza Johnson was the overall winner with a time of 18:27.2 on the 5K course, with Hurricane’s Arya Armstrong placing second in 18:54.6 and Macie Mitchell of Cedar taking third in 19:07.3. Cedar finished with a total of 74 team points, with Springville placing second with 89 and Crimson Cliffs taking third with 91.
