2 India’s data centre industry is expanding rapidly as demand for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and digital services grows, but the sector faces increasing risks related to power availability, cyber security and infrastructure resilience, according to a report released. According to a report by insurance broker Aon, India’s installed data centre capacity could increase more than fourfold by 2030 with significant new capacity already under development.

2 Tablet shipments in India eased 3.8 per cent year‑on‑year in the second quarter of 2026 as brands began passing higher input costs to consumers, raising prices and prompting a shift toward higher‑priced models, a report said. The report from Counterpoint Research said brands increased prices across portfolios and streamlined memory variants, lifting the average selling price by 15 per cent.

4 In a move aimed at advancing India’s semiconductor ambitions, the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has signed an agreement with Bengaluru-based BigEndian Semiconductors to provide financial support of Rs 130 crore under the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund. The funding will support Project VeerAI, an indigenous semiconductor initiative with a total project cost of Rs 260 crore.

5 Lenovo announced Lenovo AI Express, a new accelerated path to production AI that removes deployment complexities by giving customers of all sizes quicker return on their AI investment. According to Lenovo’s 2026 CIO Playbook, organizations moving from AI experimentation to scaled execution are expecting an average $2.79 return for every $1 invested, with 93% of enterprise respondents anticipating positive returns.

2 Deepinder Goyal, founder of food delivery and quick commerce platform Zomato, has said that Temple, the company’s upcoming wearable device, could eventually find applications far beyond health tracking, including in aviation and defence, where physiological data may help assess an individual’s fitness for critical tasks.
