Martin O’Neill says Celtic will have to go back into the market for an Arne Engels-type midfielder in January after the club failed to land a like-for-like replacement in the summer. The Celtic manager spoke about the midfielder’s move to West Ham ahead of the Glasgow derby, in comments reported by the Scottish Sun. O’Neill said he had seen the exit coming for some time.

Derek McInnes appears to have developed a selective memory ahead of Sunday’s derby at Celtic Park. The Rangers manager has publicly questioned the officiating during last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Celtic, focusing on Mika Baur’s challenge on Ryan Naderi. Naderi is now a doubt for Sunday, with McInnes claiming the striker’s ankle is “a mess”. He also revealed that Rangers had contacted the Scottish FA seeking clarification over why VAR did not intervene.

Martin O’Neill insists Celtic will replace him “when the moment is right” as scrutiny surrounding his position continues to grow.
