MACON COUNTY, Mo. — The Macon County Sheriff’s Office took to social media on Saturday, July 11, to warn citizens about a recent scam. The office has received several reports from Macon County residents about someone claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office, threatening warrants for arrest or accusing victims of failing to report for jury duty. The Macon County Sheriff reminds residents that house calls are made for warrants, not phone calls. This is a scam.

MOBERLY, Mo. — The City of Moberly Public Utilities has issued a boil order via social media. According to the post, the city had to temporarily disrupt water service on Morehead Street due to a water main break. Repairs are under way and water will be restored as soon as they are complete. The boil advisory will remain in effect for 48 hours once water is restored.

The Howard County Sheriff’s Office reports Mitchell York, 44, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. on a warrant from an original incident that took place back in February of 2025. York is accused of domestic assault in the third degree. He’s being held in a Howard County Jail cell on $20,000 bond, cash only.

According to the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Brown, 53, was arrested at 3:28 a.m. for alleged possession of a controlled substance. RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. — A Moberly man was taken into custody by the Moberly Police Department on Thursday, July 9. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Prewitt, 40, was arrested and booked into Randolph County Jail at 7:06 p.m. A probable cause statement, found in online court documents, states a medical worker accused Prewitt of assaulting her on Saturday, July 4. Reportedly, he requested to be discharged from a medical facility but had not been medically cleared to leave.

WARRENSBURG, Mo — An incident on the 9th of July left train off the tracks. Twenty-five cars diverted off the tracks into a field between Missouri Highway 13 and Northeast 501 Road. Officials say no hazardous materials were released and no injuries have been reported. More about:

MOBERLY, Mo — A Moberly woman is being held at the Randolph county jail on a 1st degree domestic assault charge. On Thursday the ninth, an officer arrived at a residence after a concerning call from on of the household. The caller reported that 33 year old Samantha Edwards had chased her romantic partner out of the house wielding an object. The caller believed that Edwards was attempting to stab the victim.

JERFFERSON CITY, Mo — Governor Mike Kehoe wants the federal government to declare a major disaster in regards to June storms. If the request is approved by President Donald Trump, 34 Missouri counties would receive federal aid in the aftermath of the storms.
