The story of Brandon Williams' career so far is a sad one. The former Manchester United left-back was handed a 14-month suspended prison sentence and a three-year ban from driving in 2025 after being arrested for dangerous driving two years earlier. Williams was also accused of being seen with a balloon at his mouth while driving, as the focus of his career shifted away from football and toward his off-the-field activities.

Manchester United underwent a midfield rebuild this summer after the departure of Casemiro. Michael Carrick's side brought in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and most recently Carlos Baleba as they prepare for a long season. European Football in the form of the UEFA Champions League will return to Old Trafford, meaning the club has plenty of games to contend with. One piece of business they completed before the final week of the window was loaning out midfielder Jacob Devaney.

Leny Yoro played a decent role under former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese head coach utilised a back-three system that didn't prove astute at Old Trafford, but Yoro was often deployed on the right of those centre-back spots. Both Amorim and Yoro have since seen their prominence wane at Manchester United. The former was sacked by the club in January 2026, while Yoro has struggled to make an impact since the arrival of new boss Michael Carrick.

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson still attends many of the club's games to this day. An adored figure at Old Trafford, the 84-year-old won 13 league titles in charge of the club between 1986 and 2013. BBC Sport recently named the Scotsman the greatest Premier League manager of all time for his efforts in charge of the Red Devils, where he powered the club to tens of honours in a period to remember.

Manchester United ran rampant in their Old Trafford return, beating newly promoted Ipswich Town 5-2. The Red Devils struggled in the early parts of the match as Gary O'Neil's side came with a game plan to sit back and target their left flank on the counter. It was a plan seemingly working as Abdul Fatawu raced past the struggling Luke Shaw and delivered the ball to Leif Davis to make it 1-0 to the Blues, but United came back in style.

Manchester United faced a tough battle against Ipswich Town in their Old Trafford return, until the heavens opened and the Reds ran rampant. One goal of their five in the match was controversial, however, as Harry Maguire seemingly handled the ball before aiming a shot at goal. Maguire's second-half attempt was heading off target before hitting Ipswich Town defender Jacob Greaves and heading beyond goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen.

Just days remaining in the transfer window, and with the league season now three games in, Burnley appear to be in a slump. The Clarets, relegated from the Premier League last season, have lost two of their three opening Championship matches of the season and were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Bradford City earlier this week. Having made eight signings during the summer transfer window, the spotlight was on the club to see if they could make the automatic return to the Premier League.

Manchester United are facing going into the 2026/27 season without a left-back to help Luke Shaw. While the 31-year-old started every Premier League game last campaign, the Red Devils have more games to contend with as they re-enter the UEFA Champions League. Lewis Hall was a strong target, but Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle recently proclaimed Michael Carrick's side have "no chance" of signing the 21-year-old this window, putting an end to any last hopes of landing the Englishman.

Manchester United have been targeting players in multiple positions throughout this summer's transfer window, in the aim of improving their squad. Michael Carrick, alongside the recruitment team and those higher up in the club, have acted upon that strategy to help the squad become better. Three primary midfield signings have been made, through Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba.

Coming into this season, Arsenal are no longer the chasers but the ones to be chased after winning their first Premier League title in 22 years. Getting off to a perfect start in their first match of the new league season, Mikel Arteta's side beat newly-promoted outfit Coventry City 3-0 at Emirates Stadium. A tougher test awaits them on Monday evening, however, when the Gooners take on Aston Villa.
