Centrica is pleased to confirm that a Heads of Terms for a 20-year regulated Contract for Difference agreement has been signed by UK Government which will extend the life of Sizewell B in Suffolk, enabling the 1.2GW nuclear power station, in which Centrica has a 20% share, to continue operating from 2035 to 2055. Sizewell B will receive a guaranteed strike price of £70.50/MWh from April 2035 to March 2055 for the electricity it produces, based on 2025 prices and indexed to CPI inflation.

Centrica has become the first company in the energy sector to back a new national initiative aiming to double the number of employee volunteering hours completed in the UK. As a signatory of the 100 Million Hour Movement, a campaign spearheaded by volunteering charity, Royal Voluntary Service, Centrica has pledged to grow participation in employee volunteering across the organisation.

Two thirds (66%) of Brits would want their next car to be electric, rising to 77% of Millennials and 72% of Gen Z. Three quarters (76%) say the environmental impact of how they travel now influences their day-to-day choices. More than half (54%) would be more likely to choose a ride-hailing or taxi service if it were fully electric and low-emission, climbing to 70% of Gen Z.

More than 13,000 people left the Armed Forces in the past year, many bringing highly transferable skills into careers like engineering, utilities and home services. Yet just 11% of Brits associate veterans with home services and only 10% with utilities, despite these being sectors they increasingly move into. 89% say military skills are transferable to civilian jobs with 81% agreeing veterans bring valuable technical skills to the workplace.

Centrica, in partnership with Push Power Ltd, has powered up a new 18MW solar farm at Rolleston Park Farm, in Burton on Trent. This is the latest milestone in Centrica’s £4bn drive to support the energy transition. Spanning approximately 70 acres and comprising over 29,000 solar panels, Rolleston is now fully operational with a total capacity of 18MW. It is expected to generate around 17MWh of green electricity annually, enough to power 6,200 homes.

The listing is a proud milestone for Centrica and reflects the progress made against its ambition to hire an apprentice every day this decade. Since 2021, almost 2,000 apprentices have joined the business, with 500 new apprenticeship roles planned this year.
