From its beginnings, the California Farm Bureau Federation has worked to protect and promote family farms and ranches, and to find solutions to problems facing agriculture and rural communities.
CFBF was founded on Oct. 23, 1919, when delegates from 32 county Farm Bureaus met in Berkeley to create the statewide organization, which was initially housed on the University of California campus. The university and its Cooperative Extension Service prompted the founding of Farm Bureau. Source

The California Farm Bureau recognized efforts in the State Legislature to honor farmworkers' vital role in sustaining California agriculture through the designation of Farmworkers Day. California Assembly Bill 2156 recognizes March 31 as "Farmworkers Day," aiming to acknowledge the tireless commitment and contributions farmworkers make to sustaining the state's agricultural production.
In recognition of her long record of advocacy for California farmers, ranchers and rural communities, California State Treasurer Fiona Ma has been honored with the Champion of Agriculture Award. The California Farm Bureau presented the award Wednesday at the organization’s annual legislative action day. The award recognizes dedicated service to agriculture and honors individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to protecting and advancing the needs of California farmers and ranchers.
